New Caledonia is a French overseas territory in the South Pacific, located east of Australia. Its capital and largest city is Nouméa. Known for its lagoon, diverse marine life, and unique blend of French and Melanesian cultures, New Caledonia is famous for the UNESCO-listed New Caledonian Barrier Reef, the Isle of Pines, Kanak traditions, and nickel mining. The official currency is the CFP franc (XPF).
